Work From the Heart - Colossians 3:23-24
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord,
not for human masters, since you know that you
will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Let’s be honest—some days it feels like the work we do goes unnoticed. The laundry piles up again, that creative project feels stuck, or someone overlooks the effort you poured into something meaningful. But Colossians 3:23–24 gently reminds us: you’re not doing this for applause—you’re doing it for the Lord.
When Paul says, “whatever you do,” he means it. Whether you’re scrubbing dishes, leading a Bible study, crafting a journal page, or encouraging a friend—every act, big or small, can become an offering of worship when it’s done with the right heart.
The phrase “work at it with all your heart” is an invitation to bring our whole selves into our tasks—not halfway, not with resentment, but with purpose. Why? Because we’re not just checking off a to-do list. We’re serving Christ.
And here’s the beautiful part: God sees what others may never notice. And He promises a reward—not just someday in heaven, but right now in the peace and purpose that come from living for Him.
So today, whether you’re editing a video, painting a cross, cooking dinner, or answering emails—remember: this matters.
Because you’re not just working for the world… you’re working for the Lord.
