how to organize holiday florals and embellishments creatively

For the past few years, I have stored all my seasonal items like: ribbon, floral picks, silk flowers, embellishments, decorations in large plastic tubs and stored on top of plastic storage shelves that I have in a large closet in our gameroom. Each season, I’d get the plastic tub for that season needed down and then try to figure out where to store the tub while I was using the craft items. I was getting tired of never being able to find what I needed when I needed it!!! Plus, I always had to dig through everything because what I needed was usually at the bottom!

Since I’ve been doing Facebook lives, it seems like I’m always a season or two ahead. So I found that I was trying to figure out where to store more than one plastic tub.

So I did what a lot of people do….I went to Pinterest for inspiration. I found one system that used a peg board and wire baskets. The one that I really wanted to use was a wood post attached to a lazy susan. Then they attached baskets or buckets on all four sides of the post. These were all great ideas but I didn’t want to spend a lot of money.

So I looked through things that I already had and thought that might possibly work. I found a room divider screen that has been in my garage for years. The space that I had for this floral display organizer was not very wide. This screen was the perfect size, so I took it apart and used only one section. I had already used this screen for my craft shows to display items so I already had a few holes in the parchment paper.

I went to Dollar General and looked around for something to use for baskets and I found these plastic pots. The best part is that they were on clearance for 1/2 off. I purchased six 8” pots and four 6” pots. I couldn’t wait to get home and start on my project!

I figured out where I wanted all the pots to go on the room divider screen. I drilled two holes in each pot about 1 1/2” to 2” apart. I did find that the closer together the holes are the better the pot seemed to stay in place.

I used wire ties that I had purchased from Dollar Tree to secure each pot onto the screen.

I just love the way this turned out and it has been so easy to create items for Fall and Christmas. When January comes along, I will change out my pots with Spring and Summer florals and picks.
