Squeeze Out Your Sorrows

Have you ever felt like life is just pressing in on every side? That the weight of worry, fear, and disappointment is too much to carry? That’s what lament feels like. And this month, with the August Scripture Challenge, I’ve been reminded that even when life gives us lemons… we don’t have to hold it all in. We can squeeze it out—and hand it over to God.
This passage from Lamentations comes from a book full of heartbreak. The prophet Jeremiah is weeping over the destruction of Jerusalem. His world is falling apart. Yet in the middle of all that sorrow, he writes one of the most beautiful declarations of hope in all of Scripture: “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed.”
When Life Squeezes Us...
There have been seasons in my life—and even some days recently—where I’ve felt pressed from all sides. It can feel like I’m trying to hold it together, but inside, I’m full of anxiety, fear, and sorrow.
And here’s the truth: God doesn’t want me to stuff that down—He wants me to pour it out.
Lamenting is holy.
It’s the raw, honest cry of a heart that still believes God is listening.
It’s the sacred act of saying, “Lord, this hurts… but I trust You.”
Mercy in the Middle
God's mercy isn't just a sunrise—it’s a catching jar.
Every tear, every sigh, every whispered prayer—He holds it. He receives it. And He turns it into something beautiful.
Just like our lemon-themed printable for August, I imagine my grief being squeezed out into a jar labeled “God’s Mercy.” Inside that jar are His promises:
✨ Compassion
✨ Faithfulness
✨ Hope
✨ Peace
We're not consumed because His mercies are fresh every single morning. What felt bitter yesterday can be met with sweet grace today.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for allowing me to bring my whole heart to You—the joyful parts and the broken ones. When life feels heavy, help me to lament honestly and trust deeply. I praise You for Your unfailing compassion and Your brand-new mercies each morning. Let me rest in Your faithfulness today. Amen.
