The Fruit of Our Lips - Hebrews 13:15

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.
— Hebrews 13:15

Worship isn’t just something we do on Sunday mornings—it’s a way of life. Hebrews 13:15 calls us to continually offer God a sacrifice of praise. Not just when things are going well. Not only when the music is playing. But in every moment, through every season.

Let’s unpack that phrase: “sacrifice of praise.” A sacrifice costs something. Sometimes praising God doesn’t come easily—it might come through tears, in times of loss, or during a season of waiting. But when we choose to praise Him anyway, it becomes a holy offering, a beautiful fragrance of trust and surrender.

This kind of praise is only possible through Jesus. It’s His finished work on the cross that gives us access to God, fills us with hope, and enables us to keep lifting our voices—especially when life is hard.

And then there’s this powerful phrase: “the fruit of lips that openly profess His name.” Fruit is a sign of life and growth. When our hearts are rooted in Christ, our words begin to reflect Him. They become ripe with thanksgiving, encouragement, and boldness to speak His name.

So today, whether you’re in a place of joy or walking through something heavy, let your lips bear the fruit of praise. Even if it feels like a whisper, God hears it. He treasures it. He receives it as worship.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What does “a sacrifice of praise” look like in your life today?

  2. Are there areas where it’s been hard to praise God lately? Talk to Him about it.

  3. How can your words today openly profess His name—to your family, friends, or even strangers?
