Unwrap Your Gifts - Scripture Challenge - Day 17
“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.”
We’re now on Day 17 of our May Scripture Challenge, and today’s verse is a reminder that each of us is created with a purpose—and gifted by God to fulfill it. Just like a beautifully wrapped present, your gifts are unique, personal, and meant to be opened and used.
Paul reminds the believers in Rome (and us!) that spiritual gifts aren’t earned or chosen—they are given by grace. That means your gift isn’t a reflection of your talent alone, but of God’s kindness and purpose in your life.
We often fall into the trap of comparison. We see someone else singing, preaching, painting, teaching, organizing, crafting, or encouraging and think, “Well, I could never do that.” But friend, you weren’t meant to. God gave you a different gift—and it’s just as valuable.
Maybe your gift is hospitality, quietly making people feel at home. Maybe it’s administration, bringing order to chaos. Maybe it’s creativity, seeing beauty where others see scraps. Or maybe it's encouragement—speaking life into weary souls. All of these are God-given and kingdom-building.
The point isn’t what you have; it’s how you use it. Gifts are meant to be unwrapped, not stored on a shelf. When we choose to use what God has given us, no matter how big or small it seems, we are actively participating in His mission—and that’s an act of worship too.
You are not forgotten or left out. God handcrafted you with care and filled you with grace-given gifts. Don’t bury them—unwrap them and use them to bless others and bring Him glory. The world needs what God has placed inside you.
Reflection Questions:
What is one gift you believe God has given you? How are you currently using it?
Is there a gift you've been afraid to use or felt insecure about?
How can you begin to "unwrap" your gifts and use them to serve others this week?
