No More Night, No More Tears - Revelation 21:4-5

As we close out this month's Scripture Challenge, we’re met with one of the most hope-filled promises in all of Scripture. Revelation 21 paints a picture of what is to come — a new heaven and a new earth, where the presence of God dwells with His people and the weight of this broken world is finally lifted.

Tears. Pain. Death. Grief.

We know these all too well. But there is a day coming — praise God — when they will be no more. Our Heavenly Father, full of compassion, promises to personally wipe every tear from our eyes. What an intimate, beautiful image of His love.

This passage brings to mind the powerful lyrics of David Phelps’ song "No More Night":

“No more night, no more pain

No more tears, never crying again

And praises to the great, "I am"

We will live in the light of the risen Lamb”

Lyrics by :Walter Harrah

The song echoes this Scripture with a triumphant declaration of victory and rest. Can’t you just imagine that moment? Standing in the presence of Jesus, basking in the light of His glory, with every sorrow behind us.

In the last part of verse 5, God gives a direct instruction: “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” This is not a vague hope or wishful thinking. These are God’s promises, and they are rock-solid. We can build our lives, our faith, and our eternity on them.

Journal Prompt:

As you Bible journal today, consider using images that reflect hope, light, or a tear being wiped away — perhaps a glowing sunrise, an open gate, or simply the words “No more night.”

Write down the phrase:
“These words are trustworthy and true.”
Let that anchor your heart today, especially if you're walking through something painful or uncertain.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What part of this promise speaks most deeply to your heart today?

  2. In what area of your life do you need to be reminded that God’s words are trustworthy and true?

  3. How does the hope of “no more night” change how you face today?

Closing Encouragement:

Sweet friend, we’ve reached the end of this month’s journey through scriptures that encouraged us to be strong and courageous.

What a beautiful finale — the assurance that no matter what battles we face now, there is a future prepared for us where fear, pain, and sorrow will never touch us again.

Until that day, let’s keep trusting His Word and holding onto His promises.

Keep writing His words on your heart… they are trustworthy and true.
