Masterpiece - Scripture Challenge - Day 21
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
We often think of a masterpiece as something perfect and polished—but God’s idea of a masterpiece includes the messy, the broken, and the moments when life feels out of control.
I’ll never forget the day when my son, Matthew, was about three years old. He and his dad were playing when something went terribly wrong—Matthew accidentally hit his dad’s head with his mouth and ended up pushing his two front teeth back into his gums. We rushed to the dentist, and I sat outside with my mom, helplessly listening to his screams. I kept whispering, “Just pull the teeth. He’s never going to calm down.”
Finally, they got the teeth out and we brought our little boy home—exhausted, hurting, and toothless. I turned on the radio, needing anything to distract us, and what do you think was playing? Sandi Patty’s song “Masterpiece.”
It was as if God Himself reached down to say,
"I see your pain. I see this moment. But trust Me—I'm still creating beauty."
That’s exactly what Ephesians 2:10 reminds us of. We are God’s handiwork—not just when things are going smoothly, but also in the chaos, in the parenting struggles, and in the waiting rooms. Even when we feel like we’ve been pulled apart, God is still weaving something together.
You are His masterpiece in motion—created with purpose, shaped by grace, and destined to reflect His goodness.
💡 Reflect:
Has God ever spoken to you through a song, a moment, or a memory during a difficult time?
What broken pieces in your life might God be using to create something beautiful?
How can you trust the Artist today, even if the picture doesn’t feel finished?
